Many of my clients live in older homes where the location is perfect but the kitchen is not. I have come to realize that kitchens today must serve many functions. Homeowners want entertainment centers, gathering spaces and home offices, as well as the maximum amount of storage and counter space. I also often get requests for special spaces like breakfast stations, coffee centers and pet feeding zones. I’ve found that every family’s lifestyle is unique.

My first step is always to ask in-depth questions before beginning design. Once I figure out the room’s many functions and traffic patterns we will design several floor plans incorporating custom solutions to fit your family’s needs.

catherineI enjoy kitchen design because it allows me to use my creative side and my problem solving abilities to achieve the most functional and beautiful environments for my clients. I love that each day is different and that no two projects are the same.

Catherine is a graduate of Harrington College of Design in Chicago with a bachelor of fine arts degree in interior design. As a child Catherine delighted in drawing floor plans of her ideal future home and spent much time re-arranging her parent’s house. She is extremely proficient in computerized drafting methods, and is often complimented on the amount of detail included in her plans. She has been designing kitchens and bathrooms for 12 years. Catherine has won awards from the National Kitchen and Bath Association in 2008 and in 2014 for kitchens she designed. She is a member of The National Kitchen and Bath Association and The American Society of Interior Designers.

Dear Catherine,
Thank you for all you did to make our lake house dream come true.  We could not have done it without your amazing talent and your cool head in tough situations!  We are thrilled and grateful!

We could not be happier with our new kitchen.  The design is more than we could have hoped for.  Catherine was a pleasure to work with and she covered every little detail with thought and creativity.  We are extremely pleased with the end result and plan to use Catherine for future projects.  Thank you very much for a job well done!

I had the pleasure of working with Catherine Heir of DEA Designs in 2015. I contacted DEA Design after I had received a few kitchen redesign proposals from kitchen design contractors and was unimpressed with their lackluster suggestions. My neighbor had used DEA Design and was extremely pleased with their work and I also loved their kitchen after it was completed so I contacted them.
Catherine Heir of DEA Design took time to understand our lifestyle and how we used our kitchen and great room and returned with three very solid design options, two were keeping within the budget we had established. The third she did was a complete departure from the other two. She did this to show us what could be done with our first floor layout and flow and would actually make our kitchen space larger, giving us space for a pantry, double oven, more overall counter space and a very large island. Even though it was more expensive, we were so impressed with the concept, we decided to go with it and we are extremely happy with the final result.
We received a beautiful final blueprint for a modest price, which was later credited to our cabinets.
We used a contractor that she often works with on kitchen and bath remodels because we did not have one. He was outstanding to work with and she took care of most of the communication to ensure that the design was executed to perfection.
During the project, she worked closely with me to help us select the right cabinets, counter-tops, backsplash, light fixtures, appliances and fixtures. Since this was a remodel of our first floor space, we painted the whole first floor and refinished the floors and she helped me select colors and stains. We also decided to buy new furniture for our great room and she helped me with that as well.
As part of the final finished product, an organization plan was provided to guide me in storing all of our kitchen items. It was for each individual cabinet and drawer.
I highly recommend DEA Designs for kitchen and bathroom remodeling. We were planning to also do a remodel of our master bathroom (which they provided initial design options for), but we decided to postpone that project for now. When we do move forward, we will definitely be using DEA Design!
